Part of a chain of supermarkets found throughout Tottori and Shimane, Marugo is your typical mid-priced grocery store, with a good selection of fresh meat and produce, pre-made meals, etc., and a limited selection of household necessities. The Hawai location is also conveniently located next to the Wellness drugstore along Route 179.

Offering a slightly different selection of products, including an in-store bakery, Ajiso is another reasonably-priced chain supermarket found in Yurihama. It is also found along Route 179 near the Lawson convenience store’s Tajiri location.
Hours: 10am-10pm




湯梨浜スーパー 夢マート

Yume Mart is a small farmers market featuring a variety of locally-grown fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh meat, breads, tsukemono, local goods, and more. There is also a confectionary corner with small cakes and sweets available. 湯梨浜スーパー ゆめマート

Yume Mart is located near the Yurihama Town Hall and JA Tottori Bank’s Hawai Branch and is found in the same building as a small Poplar convenience store.

Just a little over a year has passed since the 2016 Central Tottori Earthquake hit Yurihama and its surrounding areas. While the number of tarps marking damaged homes and buildings has decreased, repairs are still underway.

In remembrance, a gorgeous cast of local singers from an array of genres are coming together to put on a recovery concert. The concert will include performances by Sara Yanai, Koji Nishimura, Tatsuyuki Ishikawa, Shinichiro Matsushima, and Mari Kohama, with special guest announcer Katoh Appli.コンサート1

Tickets are 1,000円 and are available at Hawai Aloha Hall and all Town Hall locations. All seating is general admission.

This year’s Kurayoshi International Festival will be held Sunday, November 26th, from 11am-3pm at the Hoki Shiawase no Sato Center (458 Koda, Kurayoshi).


 With a theme of connection and unity, the Kurayoshi International Festival is meant to promote friendship and exchange across cultures and will include various stage performances, cultural experiences, food booths, as well as displays showcasing the activities of local groups and clubs. This family-friendly event is free to attend, so we hope you stop on by and enjoy the festivities!

It’s that time of the year again where the sakura cherry blossoms are getting ready and beginning to bloom all throughout Japan. According to the Cherry Blossom Forecast (see link below), Tottori’s sakura are expected to bloom a bit later than last year, budding around April 2, and are predicted to be in full bloom around April 8✾

  The Tori Friend Network is a diverse group of individuals with roots from Japan and all around the world, including China, Korea, the Philippines, Russia, Paraguay, etc., living in central Tottori working together to better understand each other, build friendships, and support each other in their day-to-day lives.

Everyone meets once a month to discuss issues relevant to their daily lives, such as childcare and education and questions relating to work and life (such as getting your driver’s license)- as well as to enjoy meals and crafts together!star

The Yurihama International Friendship Association (YIFA) teamed up with the residents of Yurihama’s Higashi Tajiri district to host an international get-together on Sunday, January 29, bringing together a mix of local residents and foreigners living in central Tottori for a fun and eventful afternoon.%e3%81%9f%e3%81%93%e7%84%bc%e3%81%8d

Over 100 participants of all ages from all across the globe, including Russia, Hungary, France, the Philippines, Japan and more, connected as they chatted, enjoyed riceballs and takoyaki, listened to a lecture about disaster preparedness, tried their hand at chigiri-e (Japanese torn paper art), and more
