 This year’s theme is capturing the essence of the “Hawaii of Japan” Yurihama from your perspective, whether through events, nature, food, culture, or sports, etc.

 There are no specific size restrictions; however, videos and panoramic pictures will not be considered. The pictures must be your own work and it cannot have been previously publicly shown or submitted for other purposes.

This year’s Hawaii in Yurihama Hawaiian Festival will once again be held the first weekend of July (7/7-7/8) at Yurihama’s Hawai Aloha Hall.

Featuring dynamic performances by Hawaii Community College’s Unukupukupu led by Kumu Hula Pele Kaio, various Hawaiian-themed workshops, and performances on the Aloha Stage by hula groups from all across Japan, the festival once again promises to be full of fun, friendship, and the aloha spirit.

We invite you to come on by and enjoy some of the performances and take part in the exchange event to be held the following Monday.


❃While registration is closed for this year’s workshops, Aloha Stage, and Hawaii in Yurihama Performance by Unukupukupku, no registration is required to attend the Welcome Concert on 7/7 or the exchange event for residents on 7/9. We invite you to stop on by and join us for the fun and festivities!

You are invited! Come join us for a fun and exciting evening with the members of the Unukupukupu hula group HFDate at Hawai Aloha Hall from 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm).


The exchange event is free to attend and no registration required~ so feel free to stop on by and enjoy the festivities, friendship, and cultural exchange! There will be ukulele and erhu (a 2-stringed Chinese musical instrument) performances, hula, and more!

The Tourism Division of the Yurihama Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working with the Tourism Association and Ryokan Union to put on this year’s Aloha Carnival. Featuring an array of water sports, Hawaii-inspired menus, and special events, it’s the perfect way to include a bit of fun, sun, and aloha into your summer!

Enjoy the sunshine while canoeing on the lake, trying to keep your balance in the Lake Tuber, stretching your body with yoga on the terrace, or gliding over the water on a stand up paddle board, and then refuel with one of the special menus available at participating locations, including the Aloha Rice Bowl (based off of loco moco), Aloha Burger, and more!

  Get your own original miniature Aloha Monument by take a picture in front of Yurihama’s Aloha Monument (along Lake Tōgō near Hawai Yu-town), staying at one of the participating Japanese inns and hotels, or spending over ¥1,000 at one of the participating local restaurants.

Aloha Carnival: Stand-up Paddle Boarding! ・ SUP体験

Stand-up paddle boarding is a popular water sport similar to traditional paddle boarding; however, rather than kneeling and using your hands to paddle, you stand-up on the board and use paddles to glide across the surface of the water. You get a good workout while relaxing and getting a unique and beautiful view of the ocean SUPfloor below you (as well as the horizon stretching off into the distance).

Come wearing your swimsuit- or even just clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. You will be given a life-jacket to wear and the staff will be there to help instruct you and help as

You don’t need to be able to swim or speak Japanese to participate, so come and enjoy stand-up paddle boarding with us!



While the 6/14 free SUP day has passed, there is no need to fret- there are 2 more chances to enjoy a FREE SUP experience!!
