Warō Nakahara ・ 中原和郎

LogoWarō Nakahara was born in 1896 in Yurihama’s Hashizu area and was accepted into Cornell University’s program in the biological sciences. After graduating in 1918, Dr. Nakahara married his wife Dorothy and launched his career as a cancer research assistant at the New York Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research (now Rockefeller University). In 1962, he was promoted to director of Japan’s National Cancer Research Center before becoming president in 1974. Through his work, Dr. Nakahara contributed greatly to the fight against cancer in Japan.
