2014.09.17 (Wed)

Ryuzo Morioka was an artist born in Matsuzaki, Yurihama, in 1878. He moved to Tokyo in 1898 and was apprenticed to Seiki Kuroda before attending the Tokyo School of Fine Art (now the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music). Morioka later studied abroad in France, where he reproduced one of Leonardo Da Vinci`s works and donated it to the National Museum in Tokyo. His hand-drawn designs adorn postcards and were featured in pamphlets celebrating the opening of Yurihama`s Suimeiso Hotel.
