Yostude Ami (Four-armed Nets)・四ツ手網

2014.09.10 (Wed)

Unique to the Togo area, yotsude ami are nets where the four corners of the net are attached to bamboo rods. A pulley system is used from a small hut on the shore of the lake to lower and raised in order to catch shrimp and carp. At the peak of its popularity, these nets were found all along Matsuzaki`s shoreline; however, nowadays only two are left standing. One is located behind Yurihama`s Suiseiso Hotel, while the other serves as a reminder of the past.
