Taira Iouno伊王野坦 (いおの たいら)

Taira Iouno was born in 1813 in Ishiwaki village, Kawamura county (present day Ishiwaki, Yurihama), and is the translator of the first book on internal diagnosis in Japan. After the Meiji restoration, he became the Governor of Kumihama, and then took up an executive position in Tottori prefecture. He was posthumously awarded the title of ‘nobleman fifth rank’ and is renowned for his contribution to Dutch studies. His grave is in Ishiwaki.

1813(文化10)年、河村郡石脇村(湯梨浜町石脇)生まれ。日本初の内科診断学の翻訳本「察病亀鑑(さつびょうきかん)」の訳者。明治維新後に久美浜知事となり、後に鳥取県の典事に就任しました。没後に従五位を贈られ、蘭学史に残る人物です。墓は石脇にあります。
